Dagny Quisling

Also went by the name Dagny Andrea Gundersdatter Veum Quisling and Dr. Dagny 
  • Birth:  May 15, 1869, Fyresdal, Telemark Norway
  • ​Emigrated 1891.  First settled in Center Township, Lake Mills, Winnebago, Iowa and then permanently settled in Madison Wisconsin. 
  • Death:  December 2, 1952.   Forest Hill Cemetery, Madison, Wisconsin

FUN FACTS: 
  • In 1931, Dagny traveled from Madison to Minneapolis to compete in a kappleik — a Norwegian fiddle and dance competition. She won second place in the Third Class for fiddle, and together with Harald Særsland of Minneapolis, took first prize for the best telespringar dance. Today, Harald’s daughter Carol carries on this tradition in Minneapolis.
  • Dagny Andrea Quisling was able to sing and dance as she played.  Her son recalled her voice carrying down the street, and her grandchildren called her "Grandma DeeDee" because she was always humming and singing. 
  • As a child she would sneak behind the barn to play accordion and violin as she grew up.  ​
